The Holden Street Theatres' Edinburgh Fringe Award-winning show transfers to the Adelaide Fringe 2019, in co-production with tfp.
Build a Rocket is a powerful and uplifting one-woman show about triumph over adversity, originally produced at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Latitude Festival & Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the summer of 2018.
Yasmin is a bright 16-year-old from a small seaside town. In an instant, her life is turned upside down when she becomes pregnant with her son, Jack. Suddenly her Scarborough isn't sandcastles, arcades, and donkey rides. Abandoned by both the father of her child and her alcoholic mother, Yasmin faces one of life's great challenges completely alone - it's just Yasmin and Jack against the world. But can the thing which threatens to ruin her life actually be the thing which saves her?
With a tour-de-force performance from actress Serena Manteghi, this brilliant, funny, and heart-warming play is the debut play by Christopher York. Build a Rocket runs at Holden Street Theatres' as part of the Adelaide Fringe from 12 Feb - 18 Mar 2019.
